One reason I prefer taking photos with my "Auto" setting is that I like to just take pictures of what I am "seeing". I don't want to be distracted by the bells and whistles. "Framing" my shots using the LCD screen has been working well, and I've been "cropping" less and less during my short editing sessions.
This interest in photography has been very gratifying. I remember when I was taveling a lot, in my 20s and 30s, and how I found it difficult to "take pictures". Looking at things through a "viewfinder" bothered me. It always seemed to get in the way of my "seeing" and enjoying the experience. I would always set aside "photo days", where I would go out and just take pictures with a camera.
