where did Winter go?

I was amazed when I was out in the back yard today, and I noticed these pink blossoms on one of the trees (or a very overgrown bush?)
February 3rd, and the temperatures have been so warm that flowers are already blooming.



I'm wondering if we'll go the whole winter without any real snowfall. And I don't think the birds ever headed south for the winter. I won't have that ritual where I go out to pick up my morning paper in early Spring, and I'm pleasantly surprised by the sounds of birds returning after several month absence.
