from today's "Sideline Chatter", by Dwight Perry

"Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle, on injury-prone A's pitcher Rich Harden: If you put an arrow pointing to each of his injuries, Harden would look like General Custer."

"The national implications of Wisconsin's labor fight"

"What's the Wisconsin public-worker battle all about? Private-sector workers are taking it on the chin..., and conservatives now see a chance to cripple organized labor altogether by killing off public-sector unions, the most vibrant part of the movement."

Lincoln Park

I walked Linclon Park with my brother again yesterday...

a valentine on the road leading down to the beach from the north end

intruding

I'm encountering more homeless individuals where the different roadways cross above the trail. Mostly men, and usually alone. I'm there by choice, and I return to my warm little house after my walks.
I turn around sometimes when I see them from afar, bundled up and sleeping in the cold.
I feel like I'm going into their living room...

I give up. I now go for walks so I can take pictures. Any exercise is a by-product. Today was a gray day, but I took a few photos, in between my walking spurts.

shadows and reflections...

I went to the Ft Dent pond yesterday...

I was just enjoying the nice reflections in the water as I walked around the pond

there was more of the tangled brush on the other side, and I started noticing their patterns in the the water

and my own shadow

when I was editing the photos later, I was reminded of spider legs or something, and I ended up with these

some photos from last week

...taken last Thursday morning, Feb 10th. I didn't get around to editing them until this morning, and I now remember how wonderful the colors were.

my shadow and a Green River morning

the dark shadow to the left in the photo below is from a large tree on this side of the river

The whole day was extraordinary for it's lighting. These photos were taken when I went out to my car in the early evening, and these colors are close to what I saw then...

the sky was quickly turning to a purple pink as I walked to the back yard, and the little white dot was a smiling moon
